TE HĀ O TE WAI

Hosted by Te Wharekura & held in Te Wānanga, this special series of kōrero explores the deep connections between wai, whenua, & whakapapa.

Against the stunning backdrop of the Waitematā Harbour, join the kaitiaki of Pourewa as they share insights into native plantings, their Māori names & uses & the vital role of wai in sustaining all life.

Walk through this unique urban space, gaining practical gardening understanding rooted in mātauranga Māori. These sessions are an opportunity to listen, touch, reflect & reconnect - with the land, the water & each other.

Alignment with Matariki -

This event embodies Matariki’s values of kaitiakitanga & manaakitanga, acknowledging the importance of wai in nourishing both people & the natural world.

By gathering in Te Wānanga- a space designed to honour the relationship between city & harbour - we reflect on the rhythms of the environment, give thanks for the sustenance of Papatūānuku & celebrate our role as kaitiaki of the future.
