Educational Experiences

This is a hands-on session designed for tamariki (children) and tauira (students), where they’ll engage with te taiao (the environment), explore identity and belonging, and reflect on their role in caring for where they stand.

Bring classroom learning to life

This 90-minute visit weaves together interactive storytelling, kōrero, and time to reflect. Your ākonga (students) will explore big ideas like kaitiakitanga (guardianship), identity, and belonging — guided by mana whenua and set in the heart of downtown Auckland.

Themes You’ll Explore Together

Te Taiao (The Environment)

See how whenua (land), wai (water), and te ao Māori (the Māori world) are connected.

Ahi-kā

Kōrero and Reflection

Your group will take part in storytelling, discussion, and quiet reflection — creating space to think deeply and ask questions.

Learn from the Land, the People, and the Stories

Learning That Connects Across Levels

Our sessions support a wide range of learning pathways — from cultural studies and history to environmental science and kaupapa Māori. Whether you’re leading a kura kaupapa, mainstream school, or tertiary group, we can shape the visit to suit your focus.

Primary to Secondary Welcome

We welcome all ages — from primary and intermediate through to secondary. It’s a safe, inspiring space to grow understanding of te ao Māori and the local stories of Tāmaki Makaurau.

Tertiary and Special Interest Groups

Perfect for tertiary ākonga (students) and community groups exploring history, identity, environment, or kaupapa Māori.

Outcomes That Go Beyond the Classroom

Tamariki and tauira will explore local iwi history, build a deeper sense of belonging, and strengthen their understanding of kaitiakitanga (guardianship). It’s about learning the facts, the values, and responsibilities that come with them.
